DOWNLOADING ARTICLES THROUGH MathSciNet

1. Find your article in MathSciNet the usual way.

The example on the right shows the results of a search performed for author "Miranda". You should be able to download the full text of the first article (Spectral properties...) as the "Article" button indicates. The same button shows the second article (Revisiting...) cannot be downloaded through MathSciNet. In about 5% of the cases the Article button is "on" but you are still denied access. For many articles the "Article button" is "off". You may still be able to download your article through the library's "ejournals" homepage or other archives.

THE ARTICLE BUTTON

However - if the Article button is "on" - the following steps will work in 95% of the cases.

1. Click on the Article button.

2. Look for the "DOWNLOAD" and/or "FULL TEXT" words on the next page.

EXAMPLE: Click here to see a picture where the full text of the first article above (Spectral properties...) is "hidden" on the page you get to after clicking the "Article button".

3. Click the DOWNLOAD or FULL TEXT or similar words you just found.

The following is for FIREFOX users

4. A window will appear ...

... offering you a choice between downloading your article to your computer or opening it with acroread.
Click here to see that window.

5. If you click OK in that window...




5A....for opening your article with acroread... ...depending on your setup the so called DOWNLOAD WINDOW may appear showing the name of the file you have just downloaded and offering you to open or remove it. Click here to see the DOWNLOAD WINDOW. 6A. So click "OPEN" ... ... wait a little bit ... and you can start reading!

5B. ... for saving your article to disk... ... the next window appearing will offer you a filename and a folder to save your article to. Click here to see what that window looks like and where you can change the filename and the folder. 6B. Click here to see what that window looks like if you choose to manipulate what folder to save to.
