Il
dépend de celui qui passe
Que je sois tombe ou trésor,
Que je parle ou me taise,
Ceci ne tient qu'à toi,
Ami, n'entre pas sans désir.

SERIES OF PROBLEMS IN PROBABILITY THEORY.
English translation
This page contains some series of problems. Some important
subjects of the probability theory (like central limit theorem,
general limit theorems for sums of independent random variables,
the laws of large numbers,
Gaussian random variables, Wiener processes, invariance principle,
large deviations, optimal approximation of the standardized
empirical process etc.) are worked out with the help of a series of
problems together with their solutions. Not all of these series are
finished, and I did not work out all subjects I had planned to do.
Gradually, I make an English translation of these texts and put them
to the homepage.

THE SUBJECT OF
MY PROBABILITY COURSES AT THE UNIVERSITY OF DEBRECEN
and the problems discussed there.
I finished my courses (after 17 years of teaching) in 2013.
Here is the
reason for this change.
The program of
the mathematical seminar of the Bolyai College between 1995
and 2000. In Hungarian
This page contains the program of the mathematical seminar of the
Bolyai College of the Eötvös Loránd University
Budapest when I was responsible for its program. It also contains the
series of mathematical problems discussed in this seminar during that
time together with some additional information which may be of interest.
Together with some colleagues we have translated the third (enlarged)
edition of S. G. Gindikin's book Tales on Physicists and
Mathematicians to Hungarian.
The introduction of the third edition of Gindikin's book
(in Hungarian translation).
This is an interesting and enjoyable text which explains the goal
and spirit of the book.
A popularizing article about Gindikin's book
(in Hungarian) (written by me)
The Hungarian translation of an interview of
Evgenij Borisovich Dynkin with Roland L'vovich Dobrushin
A discussion
about the problems of the Hungarian higher education.
